For campaigns here is a good process to check to make sure they are optimized well

  • Do a master keyword list using helium10 and your primary competitors to determine what set of keywords are most important for your product
  • Check to make sure this list of keywords is not blocked by a negative phrase match
  • Check to make sure this list of keywords isn’t blocked by a negative exact match
  • Check to make sure the keywords in this list have coverage, i.e. have a target that can bid on them in the campaign structure

Next check to make sure the bad keywords are negated and blocked from getting ads served on them.

  • Identify a list of bad keywords
    • Using the PPC reports organize the data together at the Customer Search Term Level
    • Filter by those that have had zero sales over the lifetime
    • Then put that list into H10’s Frankenstein tool to distill down to a list of bad single words
    • That gives you a list of potential negative phrase candidates for your campaign
    • Check to see if they are already a negative phrase and if not add them
